Intoduction
The College Football Guesser is the online office pool; it manages the entry of picks, scores, etc.
Althought the NFL Guesser started in 1994, the CFBG started in 2024.

General
This site is deigned as a phone app in portrait orientation

Navigation
All pages that are Week specific are driven by the listbox at the top of the page.  Select a different week to see future or past details.

New Guessers
New users can be added until the start of the first Saturday game of Week 2.

How to Win
A uesr picks their expected winners of College Football Games.  Correct picks are awarded points (see Weights section below).  Earn the most points to win the season.

Game Rankings
A subset of games are selected for picks each week; games that people are interested in following, are available for watching, and are competitive.

We will settle on the game list on Monday mornings, selecting 8-10 games.
Criteria to rank the games for selection:

Rules
  1. Users must be curteous to other users.
  2. Users must ignore #1 when a trash-talking opportunity presents itself.
  3. Users must enter their picks before the game begins.  A non-pick will receive zero points.
  4. In the case of a tie game, all users are winners.

Game Weights
To encourage picking of underdog teams and to add additional weight to correctly picked games for which there is even picking, points are awarded for wins.

Example: Team A vs Team B. If Team A is a 7pt favorite, then team A is weighted at 1 point and team B at 3 points.

Example: Team A vs Team B. If Team A is a 2pt favorite, then team A is weighted at 1.5 points and team B at 2 points.

Example: Team A vs Team B. If the line is 1.5 or less, both teams are weighted at 2 points.

Donation
All players are required to make a $20 USD donation by week #3. The donations are pooled and returned in full as prize money.

Donation methods:

Payout
During the regular season, the picker each week earns $5.

$20 USD is paid to the winner of the Prognosticator.

$20 USD is paid to the winner of the Swagger.

For the remaining funds, 82.5% of the money is returned for the Regular Season; 17.5% for the Playoffs.
The top 25% of the players in each season receive money, ranked by points descending. The points accumulated for the playoffs is distinct from the regular season.

Summary - Regular/Playoff
This page allows anyone to view everyone's points (wins-losses) for the season or playoffs. The users are sorted according to winning percentage. Results in green signify the highest score for the given week.

Prognosticator
This is a seperate pool where Guessers can enter their predictions for playoff teams and results.

Swagger
This is a seperate pool where you select your 1st and 2nd most confident picks. Points = 2x your #1 pick result + 1x your #2 pick result Sum for the regular season. No Elimination. There are too many possible ncaa teams to implement an eliminator, so this is something confidence-adjacent to try.

Ledger
This page shows the financial credits and debits for your logon across all Guesser pools. At the end of the season one can choose to "rollover" the next year's donation and have their current data replicated.
